    Hey All,

Well I’ve been messing around heaps with my new camera (Canon EOS 5DmkII) and lense (Canon 16-35mm f2.8L) and I’m pretty happy with the results so far.

Bec and I made a trip up to Two Rocks, north of Perth to give our new Subaru Forester a bit of a run, while we were up there I decided to get some shots and try out the camera. Here are the results:

Churning - Fine Art Photography by Paul Pichugin

Then last night I decided to do a re-shoot of the iconic Crawley Edge Boathouse on the Swan River in Perth, I’m really happy with the results, the white balance control on the 5D is exceptional:

    Hey All,

There is 24 hours left to vote for me in the Jetstar Photo Comp, please go there and vote for my 2 photos!

Well as you can see, I’ve done some major updates to the website, it’s still very much a work in progress at the moment, lots more photos and content to be added still, working on a new photo gallery as well. Unfortunately I’ve been to busy to dedicate any serious amounts of time to the website, so it’s still just a bit of a shell of a site.

Bec and I have quite a few trips coming up over the next few months, some for weddings, others for landscape opportunities and relaxation. A quick break down of our trips coming up:

August 6-10th: We fly from Perth to Brisbane where we will drive down to Salt Village, near Kingscliff, New South Wales. I am shooting Dan and Myla’s wedding photos there on the 7th, really looking forward to this trip as Bec and I have stayed at the Mantra at Salt a few times and have really enjoyed it there.

August 21st – 23rd: We drive from Perth to Geraldton (about 430kms) . I’m shooting a wedding in Geraldton on the 22nd, should be a great day, I’ve only visited Geraldton twice before, but Bec’s family lives there, so we’re looking forward to doing some catching up with them!

August 28th – 2nd September: We fly to Brisbane again for a wedding in Strathpine, good friends Ash & Tristan are getting married and asked me to do the photography for them! It will be good to catch up with some friends from Brisbane again.

In the middle of all that it is pretty likely that I will be traveling to Melbourne for a couple of days as well, hoping to get time to go to the Otways again, to do some more waterfall and creek shots and maybe try and get something unique at the 12 Apostles.. a very big ask as everyone has photos of the 12 Apostles. There is the possibility of a quick weekend in Adelaide to visit some of my family as well.. so a *very* busy month, I’ll be clocking up the frequent flyer points for sure!

I’ll be keeping the blog updated with my whereabouts and photos from each trip. The wedding slideshows will go up on my weddings and portraits blog as they become available too, I have to try and buy a new laptop before I go so that I can do some editing on the go!

    More updates soon!

    Regards

    Paul

    Website Update

    Posted in: Art, General

    Hey All,

Well as you may or may not have noticed, I’m updating the website! I’ve changed the entire wordpress theme, added a slideshow pro background and I’m in the process of setting up the gallery side of things!

Once the gallery is completed, I’ll be looking to setup an online store where you can order directly from me, rather than through RedBubble, like my orders are filled now!

I’d love to hear people’s feedback on the new site layout. All feedback appreciated, especially constructive criticism. There are still a few issues with Internet Explorer that I’m sorting out.. but I’m getting there :-)

    Hey All,

Well I had an excellent time away over the long weekend, we stayed in some great townhouse style units at Yallingup, right on the beach. I got up for dawn, 2 days in a row.. something of a record for me, but it was well worth it! Saturday morning was one of the most amazing sunrises that I have ever seen. There has been a lot of burning off in the area, so the skies have been smokey, this added a great red and orange hue to the sunrise and sunsets. We headed to Eagle Bay to capture the sunrise over the ocean and the rocks, here is one of my favorite shots from the morning:

On Sunday there was a lot of cloud cover and rain, this made for a fairly boring sunrise, so we headed over to the west coast to Sugar Loaf Rock, it was well worth the trip, as I got some amazing long exposure shots there, this is my pick of the bunch so far, with a few more to come soon:

I’ve got quite a few more photos to go through, so I’ll be posting up some shots from this trip for the next couple of weeks most likely. I head off for Adelaide early Thursday morning and I intend to do some exploring while I’m there, I’m hoping to get to a few places in particular, just depends on how much time I have.

In other news.. I’m still updating my website, the new basic layout is now in place (as you may well have noticed), so now I’m just working on a few flash galleries and slideshows as well as a few other minor widgets and adjustments. I’d love to hear people’s feedback on the new layout and if you find any bugs.. please let me know!

    Regards

Well the first amazing news is that I have not only been featured in the next edition of Photo Review Australia magazine, I have also had my work Approaching Storm used as the cover image of the magazine!

I’ll post up a PDF version of the interview as soon as I get a copy for myself :-)

In other news, I’ve got a few trips planned over the coming months, this weekend we’re heading to Dunesborough.. it’s near Busselton, Western Australia. Next weekend I’m in Adelaide, South Australia. I’m planning a trip away for a weekend in July, but I haven’t decided where yet. In August I have 2 trips to Brisbane and a trip to Geraldton planned already, with various other trips around the place in between.

Then in December, Bec and I are planning to go to Phuket for our wedding anniversary.. I’m hoping to take lots of awesome diving / snorkeling photos and some landscape photos of the amazing islands around Thailand!

Website Upgrade.. I’ve got a new wordpress theme nearly completed in Photoshop, it will be getting coded up in the next couple of days and the website should look a whole heap better with in the next week.. adding to the site will be an online shopping cart system so that you can buy cards, prints, framed prints etc all directly from my website!

For now if you want to browse through all of my Fine Art Photography, please go to my RedBubble site, where you can buy prints as well. http://www.redbubble.com/people/paulmp/art

That’s all for now, I’ll have further updates and new photos as I take them!
